Ombudsperson · ombudsperson@iti.ac.at
A safe campus, taken seriously: the policy we follow, the person you can turn to in confidence, and what happens after a report.
Policy
ITI follows the official policy of the Archdiocese of Vienna on the prevention and reporting of sexual abuse or violence on campus. All faculty and staff have signed the Verpflichtungserklärung (commitment declaration) and take part in informational seminars on this subject.
An ombudsperson, appointed by the Rector, serves as the first point of confidential contact in case of suspected abuse or violence on campus. The ombudsperson reports directly to the Rector, who decides on next steps in consultation with ITI leadership, in full accordance with Austrian law and ecclesiastical regulations.
Only an Austrian court of law can decide definitively on the merits of a case brought forward officially. Reporting a suspected case to the ITI ombudsperson does not relieve the persons involved from the possibility or duty to address the competent civil authorities.
